Unsung Heroes Awards AKA Oma Living Show Awards
The Unsung Heroes Awards, also known as the Oma Living Show Awards and Entrepreneurship Conference, was established to recognise Africans and African brands, organisations and people who have stood for creativity, entrepreneurship, business, industry, character, innovation, positive and visible impact and lots more.
The “Unsung Heroes Award” also known as The Oma Living Show Awards officially started in 2018 after 2 attempts and it was a great success.
The Award is simply bringing to life and form one of the show's major themes, which is to CELEBRATE UNSUNG HEROES AND BRING THEM TO LIMELIGHT. The OMA LIVING SHOW is aware that some people do great and extraordinary things but are not given enough recognition.

Award Categories
A food or culinary entrepreneur who owns their own business in the food or culinary industry. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 18 months old in operation. The business can be raw food exportation, manufacturing, restaurant, online food delivery, catering etc.
Someone whose primary activities work within the fashion industry. It could be clothes, shoes, hair, hats, undergarments, etc. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 18 months old in operation.
A tech entrepreneur is anyone who leverages technology to improve problem-solving processes or creates brand-new solutions to those common issues plaguing humanity. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 12 months old in operation.
A vendor is a person or company that sells goods or services for a profit. They can operate in a business-to-consumer (B2C) or business-to-business (B2B) environment. In B2B, vendors are often known as suppliers. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback. They must be scam-free. They must have been in business for at least 12 months.
This is an entrepreneur whose business is agriculture or agriculture-related. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 24 months old in operation.
This an ENTREPRENEUR, a problem solver, with long-standing businesses, a minimum of 100 employees, businesses with their oldest business not less than 60 months. No financial scandal. No social scandal. Products if they are into manufacturing must be duly registered with NAFDAC and all necessary bodies as the case may be. Nominee can not be less than 30. Nominee must symbolize excellence.
This is equivalent to ENTREPRENEUR of the year. But in this case, the entrepreneur can be 21 years and above but not more than 45. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 12 months old in operation.
This is the MOST EXCELLENT SMALL BUSINESS OWNER OR PERSON OF POSTIVE IMPACT FROM THE EASTERN PART OF NIGERIA. Nominees must have a track record and proof of work that can be verified. No scandal. No negative press or publicity. They must have a business or brand. They may not have physical products, they can be social entrepreneurs (they can be coaches, counsellors, humanitarians, social workers, writers, etc.) but there must be proof of work. A worthy ambassador of the EAST. They must work and operate in the East.
This is the MOST EXCELLENT SMALL BUSINESS OWNER OR PERSON OF POSTIVE IMPACT FROM THE NORTHERN PART OF NIGERIA. Nominees must have a track record and proof of work that can be verified. No scandal. No negative press or publicity. They must have a business or brand. They may not have physical products, they can be social entrepreneurs (they can be coaches, counsellors, humanitarians, social workers, writers, etc.) but there must be proof of work. A worthy ambassador of the NORTH. They must work and operate in the NORTH.
This is the MOST EXCELLENT SMALL BUSINESS OWNER OR PERSON OF POSTIVE IMPACT FROM THE EASTERN PART OF NIGERIA. Nominees must have a track record and proof of work that can be verified. No scandal. No negative press or publicity. They must have a business or brand. They may not have physical products, they can be social entrepreneurs (they can be coaches, counselors, humanitarians, social workers, writers, etc) but there must be proof of work. A worthy ambassador of the SOUTH. They must work and operate in the South.
This is the MOST EXCELLENT SMALL BUSINESS OWNER OR PERSON OF POSTIVE IMPACT FROM THE EASTERN PART OF NIGERIA. Nominees must have a track record and proof of works that can be verified. No scandal. No negative press or publicity. They must have a business or brand. They may not have physical products, they can be social entrepreneurs (they can be coaches, counselors, humanitarians, social workers, writers, etc) but there must be proof of work. A worthy ambassador of the WEST. They must work and operate in the West.
A manufacturer is a person or company that produces finished goods from raw materials by using various tools, equipment, and processes, and then sells the goods to consumers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, or other manufacturers for the production of more complex goods. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. The business must be duly registered and be at least 18 months old in operation.
Being a great Employer requires a holistic approach to building a work environment in which employees are constantly engaged and committed to business success. Great employers are great leaders and they contribute immensely to human capacity development and the growth of your society. The nominee must have employees who can attest to their greatness as employers. The nominee must be above 30 years.
This category is for brands/businesses that are less than 12 months old but showing visible signs of excellence in their operations. This category is open to businesses/brands in all sectors.
This category is for products that are less than 12 months old but showing visible signs of excellence in terms of branding, product quality, consistency in supply and lots more. This category is open to businesses/brands in all sectors.
The ability to go through adversity and survive is a lot of strength. But using it to inspire people is top tier. This category seeks to recognise a Nigerian youth who has visibly gone through so much but hasn’t allowed their situation to hold them down or define them.
A role model is a person whose behaviour, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people. Nominee must be one whose life and lifestyle are inspiring and worthy of emulation. They must be people without scandals. This category is open to people who are 30 and above.
Healthcare entrepreneurship is the act of creating a product, process, or service that fills a need or introduces a new development in medicine or healthcare delivery. Healthcare innovators can come from a clinical, science, and/or business background, or have a combination in terms of experience and education. Nominees must have been in business for at least 12 months.
A real estate entrepreneur is someone who buys, sells, or manages real estate properties for profit. Nominee must be someone with a registered real estate company and has been in the real estate industry for at least 24 months with proof of work.
An education entrepreneur markets their expertise and skills to the public, schools, colleges and universities or for-profit and nonprofit organizations, using a learning platform. These professionals are educators who share their knowledge. The nominee must have a platform, brand or enterprise dedicated to this. They must be known for human capacity development, grooming and nurturing better Human Resources and entrepreneurs.
Hospitality is an industry that includes restaurants, hotels, casinos, amusement parks, events, cruises, entertainment, and other tourism-related services. Nominees must be operating in these fields and must be excellent in their operations, branding, customer care, track record, reviews and feedback. They must be without scandals.
Errand and logistics are very vital aspects of business. There is hardly a thriving business that does not use them. Errand and logistics companies control and streamline various processes of moving goods, including warehousing and transportation, from the point of origin to the point of consumption based on specific customer requirements. The nominee must be at least 12 months in operation. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc.
SMALL BUSINESSES, ENTREPRENEURS, and SOCIAL ENTERPRISES have been helped greatly by finance companies over the years in various ways like through loans, funds mobilization, project management, credit grants and lots more. This category seeks to award the best finance brand in terms of small business support in Nigeria. The nominee must be great and outstanding in terms of branding, service, content, customer care, reviews and feedback etc. They must be at least 36 months in operation.
Corporate social responsibility is a method by which companies make a concerted effort to operate in ways that enhance rather than degrade society and the environment. CSR can help improve various aspects of society as well as promote a positive brand image for companies. It is the process of also giving back to society by corporate bodies and businesses. The nominee must have a proven track record of tangible CSR activities. The nominee must be at least 36 months in operation.
A humanitarian is a person who seeks to promote humanity and human welfare through their work. Nominee must have track records that can be verified, must have at least 5 great social projects done. These projects must be projects aimed at making humanity and society better.
This category is for the MOST IMPACTFUL NGO or CIVIL SOCIETY in Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot of nagging issues. The nominee in this category must be an NGO or CIVIL SOCIETY devoted to tackling obvious nagging issues with proof of impact and results.
A “creative” is an ideas person who uses their imagination to produce an original piece of work. In the context of entrepreneurship, creativity is the generation of ideas that result in the improved efficiency or effectiveness of a system. Entrepreneurial creativity leads to INNOVATION. It's about seeing the world in new ways and finding new solutions to problems. Nominee must have proof of work for creativity.
Influencers/promoters have become very important as far as businesses are concerned today. A lot of businesses, brands, companies and organizations get their products and services promoted by certain people who are trusted for different reasons by the consumers and target audience. The nominee must have a track record of at least companies or small businesses successfully promoted. Nominee must be scandal-free.
A mentor is a person who provides you with the guidance you need to thrive and succeed in your career. They are often someone who's gone down the same road you are on currently and is there to advise you on what they have done and what has worked for them.Nominee must have a successful business, must have a life that reflects success, and cannot be less than 35 years old.
Work-life balance is typically defined as the amount of time you spend doing your job versus the amount of time you spend with loved ones or pursuing personal interests and hobbies. WORK-LIFE BALANCE promotes mental health, physical health and holistic wellness. It promotes love and harmony. Nominee must be an entrepreneur whose life reflects balance.
Family-friendly brands are the ones that establish a work environment and policies that enable employees to effectively balance and fulfill both their work and family responsibilities. Nominee must have a brand that reflects this.

It is 2021 and we are warming up for another edition.
